New pool safety standards The Queensland State Government introduced stage one of the “Each year there are approximately 50 non-fatal immersion incidences, which often cause permanent brain damage. Statistics show children are more likely to lose their lives in pools than in any other body of water. “If the new laws can stop even just one of these incidences, they will be worthwhile”.
